The mission of Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) is to train, educate, and mobilize youth activists committed to "winning on principle." Their goal is to cast the leaders of tomorrow and reclaim the policies, candidates, and direction of our government.
In her latest piece, syndicated columnist Froma Harrop takes a look at the benefits of ending the drug war, and interviews former law-enforcement officials who have started the group Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) to call for the repeal of drug laws.
This topic is probably one of the hardest to address when spreading the message about limited government and local control, but, as Harrop points out, ending the War on Drugs would cripple the power of the drug trade and save federal and state governments billions of dollars.
And before you say, "We can't do that," hear the officers out. They have an answer for every objection.
Doesn't the War on Drugs take narcotics off the street, raising their price beyond most Americans' means?
Obviously not. The retail price of cocaine is now about half what it was in 1990. When the value of something goes up, more people go into the business.

The Campaign for Liberty organization is just two months old and lots of work has already been done by our grassroots leaders. Following is an update on the latest.
As of today, we have interim state coordinators in 36 of 50 states and they are busily searching for interim coordinators for each congressional district and each county in their states. Many coordinators have attended weekly conference calls since kickoff to discuss goals and provide feedback on website functions.
The first major goal that grassroots members are working toward is having 10,000 precinct leaders on board across the country by this time next year. By mid-November, twelve states had already reached a double-digit percentage of goal (in alphabetical order): Alaska, Idaho, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Congratulations!
Hundreds of precinct leaders are preparing themselves by completing their training and the specific steps provided in Precinct Leader Boot Camp. Many have completed Step 1 and have already begun Step 2. Some have even completed Steps 1 and 2 and are now working on Step 3. Step 4 (Get to Know the Rules) will be available soon. Upon completion of the 7-Step Boot Camp program, precinct leaders will be our most well-prepared and knowledgeable activists. As soon as data is available, they will gain access to the best voter data and tools possible in order to make an impact in their neighborhoods where the true battles are won.
A few County and Congressional District meetings have been held so far and some states have held or are planning to hold statewide meetings in the next couple of months, so watch for news from your state coordinator on the date/time/location for your state. These meetings are instrumental as they provide you the opportunity to formulate your state-specific strategies going forward.
Upcoming political activities include general/municipal elections, legislative sessions (beginning in January), political party elections, and most states offer the opportunity to apply for positions on boards and commissions. All of these activities provide a way to remain involved, stay on top of issues, and have your voices heard.
Yes, our grassroots coordinators and precinct leaders have been working very hard, so the next time you meet one, let them know you appreciate them. Many thanks for the work you have all done so far as we march toward Freedom and Liberty.

Jeff Frazee, National Youth Coordinator for Ron Paul 2008, worked very closely with Dr. Paul to get Campaign for Liberty started and also worked very hard to make the Rally for the Republic a success. Now Jeff has left to start Young Americans for Liberty in order to pursue his passion of spreading the message of limited government among students and continuing the youth movement that fueled Ron Paul's presidential campaign.
As our top box says, YAL has been officially endorsed by Dr. Paul. Be sure to check out his endorsement letter and their new site here.
Thanks to forcegrip for sending along the article.
Citigroup's chief technical strategist looks at the current conditions and predicts a significant rise in gold prices in this piece from the UK's Telegraph.
CNSNews.com recently interviewed Dr. Paul about his efforts to abolish the Federal Reserve system.
Paul blames the Fed -- America’s central bank -- for causing our current economic turmoil by adopting a monetary policy of artificially lowering interest rates and inflating the money supply.
“Low interest rates cause people to make mistakes; they over-invest, they mal-invest and they build up more debt than they ordinarily would. This causes the financial bubble, and it always ends disastrously,” Paul said.
Last night at least 7 "Ron Paulers" were elected to the NH Merrimack County GOP delegation including two of our new elected GOP representatives to the NH House.
The County delegations are easy ways to get involved. If you are interested please email me and I can help you out.

Auto CEOs have returned to Congress, this time asking for over $30 billion instead of the original $25 billion number.
Chrysler wants $7 billion before the end of the month. GM is at $18 billion in requests ($12 billion loan, and possible $6 billion credit line), and Ford is asking for a $9 billion taxpayer credit line.
To supposedly show they are serious about cutting back, the executives are driving hybrid vehicles to D.C. this time around instead of taking private jets, and all three have agreed to a year of $1 salaries. So, a good question might be to ask why they didn't take these steps when they weren't begging for your money.
It would also be interesting to find out how much money was spent preparing these proposals and for the executives to present themselves in D.C. I'm sure a lot of that could have gone toward righting their ships.
The Houston Chronicle reports on the latest developments here.

Due to some unforeseeable setbacks in wrapping up the editing process, we unfortunately have to push the date back for the store opening and the release of the Rally DVDs.
The DVDs will be a great recruitment tool for Precinct Leaders and will aid in educating the public about the freedom movement. The C4L staff is working very hard to get the items ready as soon as possible.
Stay tuned for updates and information about the store and a pre-ordering opportunity for the DVDs later this week.
Thank you for your patience; it is greatly appreciated!
